Judging by the general attitude towards the filming process in our group, the filming went very well, we all knew what we were doing, what the group as a whole wanted to do, and how we were going to do it, this was generally because we were able to easily communicate freely our ideas within our group, and we could evaluate whether we wanted to implement that idea in to our filming process or not, and whether it would make for a better effect for the end of our project, as we all wanted to make a fairly decent film.
Communication within a group is key, and we found this to be important. everyone had there roles in the creation of the film, one of our group members didn't want to be in the video so we agreed that he would do the filming. Another member in our group said he wanted to be the main person in the video, so he done most of the acting as well as editing as he insisted. I decided i would also be in the film, but also wanted to do some of the camerawork and editing as well, so i helped with all three and also wrote the script with the help of the cameraman. This allowed us all to feel comfortable with what we were doing and made sure that we were also all doing something to contribute towards the final video which definitely made the filming process easier than expected.
I don't usually work in groups but it isn't a new experience to me either. I found our group to be exceptionally efficient and work really well together as a whole.
Some of the difficulties that did occur whilst we were filming though was where we were going to film, as we were limited to the school grounds, so finding somewhere that would suit our film was tricky, so we had to ask if we could use one of the rooms that was available to us for our filming for about half an hour, which wasn't a problem with the person who allowed us to.
Another difficulty whilst filming was sound, as it was hard to find a decent area that was going to be quiet around school grounds, but we overcame that by adding our own sound effects as a separate layer in the editing process. This was the case in the opening shot of our film, where our group member walks towards the door, but the camera is relatively far away so the footstep sounds wouldn't pick up. Instead of just leaving that scene as is with no footstep sounds, what we done is we gathered my footstep samples from different areas around the school, chose what one sounded best, and used the sound of my footsteps instead. The editor also made the footsteps sounds in sync so it sounded as well as looked realistic as well.
